On Tuesday, October 1, 2024, parliamentarians from the parliamentary group of Alliance 90/The Greens in Bavaria visited KIT. The “Social Cohesion” working group gained a personal impression of the activities of the Innovation Campus Sustainability and Mobility at KIT.
Innovative Technology Transfer
“We like to look to Baden-Württemberg and the ideas that are being developed there to expand the university location,” said Verena Osgyan, the parliamentary group’s spokesperson for science. “It is encouraging to see that research at KIT is not remaining in the laboratory, but is being actively carried out into society. The Innovation Campus models are good examples of how mission-oriented research can be successfully implemented.”
“The Innovation Campus model is a successful response by the state government to the transfer-oriented orientation of the Baden-Württemberg university landscape,” says Professor Thomas Hirth, Vice President of Transfer and International Affairs at KIT. “Ultimately, research is especially relevant when it can have a practical impact on society with solutions. With the Innovation Campus model, the state of Baden-Württemberg has created the ideal framework for this. In addition, it contributes substantially to the close cooperation between the Baden-Württemberg universities.”
InnovationsCampus meeting space
The Innovation Campus model in Baden-Württemberg creates meeting spaces for strategically important research areas. Basic research and applied science, non-university research institutions and universities come together here to work together on the major challenges of the future. In addition, start-up initiatives network with researchers and companies.
