Azusa Pacific University’s Department of Theater Arts presents William Shakespeare’s Much Ado About Nothing. The show runs from February 8-24 with Thursday, Friday, and Saturday performances at 7:30 p.m., as well as Saturday matinee shows at 2 p.m. The production takes place in the Warehouse Theater, located on APU’s West Campus, at 701 E. Foothill Blvd. in Azusa. Free parking is available. General admission tickets cost $21, with discounted tickets for senior citizens, children, students, and alumni. Romp, romance, and potential catastrophe collide in William Shakespeare’s fast-moving and irresistibly hilarious and energetic comedy. Sworn to a solo life, Beatrice and Benedick are each determined to evade Cupid’s quiver of arrows, employing rapier wit against one another to defend what everyone else already knows, that they are hopelessly, desperately in love. Much Ado About Nothing is directed by Kristi Papailler who also directed APU’s production of Trojan Women in 2022.
“Much Ado About Nothing is a timeless, humorous and centuries old story of love, betrayal and the triumph of good over evil,” said Papailler. “These themes are ever-present in our lives today. This production’s conceptual setting of 1991 Battery Park City, a chic Manhattan neighborhood, places audience members in a contemporary and perhaps familiar landscape to enjoy the adventures of the beloved Hero, Claudio, Beatrice, Benedick and company.”
